Entering the New Year
Here’s the truth …
I love the early morning hours when I can sit at my desk, spend time alone with my Savior, and hear Him speak to me through His precious Word. It’s just Jesus, me, and coffee. (smile)
I opened my Bible this morning to Malachi 3:6a, which says, “For I am the Lord, I change not.” What a precious promise! I needed that today. The new year, 2019, is almost here, and I am wondering what will it hold for my family? Will there be weddings? Moving/relocating? New jobs? What changes will God ask me to walk through?
How wonderful to know … to rest in the fact that He will not change. Everything around me may change, but He remains the same.
Hebrews 13:8 tells me, “Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, and today, and forever.”
He is the Vine and I am the branch that gets all of my strength from Him! He is the good Shepherd that leads me all through the day and night. He is my Bread and Living Water! He is the Lifter of my head. He is all that I need.
It amazes me that He cares for me, that He has given me His Word to read and study and learn from. I can speak to Him directly through prayer any time, all the time. What a wonderful Teacher!
When I think of all He has done for me, how can I not love Him more and more?
I don't know what this year is going to bring, but I do know that whatever He brings to me, He will bring me through it. Therefore, I can “rejoice in time to come” (Proverbs 31:25 KJV).
Lord Jesus, Thank You for being my Savior and friend. Thank You for leading me and guiding me each and every day. Thank You for what You have done, and are going to do. Please give me Your strength and peace as I face each new day. Help me to trust You, even when I don't understand and am afraid. I have seen Your faithfulness. Let me not forget it. Let me lean on you and not my own understanding. Thank You that I am never alone . . . You always are with me. I love You, O Lord, my Strength and my Redeemer. Amen.
